Phil Johnson is native-born to Port Townsend and a life-long resident of the city. He is a graduate of Port Townsend High School and the University of Washington, and served honorably in the US Army. Before entering public service he worked in the fishing industry and as a carpenter and building contractor, specializing in restoration and renovation. His renovation of the historic Rose Theater building, which he owns, won him the Washington State Department of Archeology and Historic Preservation Award for the Best Historic Restoration of 1992. He also supervised the restoration of the Bell Tower in uptown Port Townsend. He and wife Sandy Krist live in Port Townsend, and have one daughter, Maya, who is following her father into political activism as a Hillary Clinton campaign staffer in D.C. Another important family member is their golden lab, Anza.

Phil was first elected County Commissioner (District #1) in 2004, and has been active in The Washington State Association of Counties, the professional association of County Commissioners, as part of its Legislative Committee. He has served as the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners since his first year on the board. Phil is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the citizens of Jefferson County and protecting our beautiful environment for future generations.

There are many ways - large and small - to help him in his bid for re-election. Please join us in working to retain his leadership on the Board of County Commissioners.
